How is MongoDB still a thing when there's already several ways to handle json in Postgres including Microsofts new documentdb extension: https://gist.github.com/cpursley/c8fb81fe8a7e5df038158bdfe0f... What am I mi

Now run those numbers per-capita (UK has been arresting around 3k a year for mean tweets). Democratic Germany has been rounding people up as well but I can't find their specific stats.

Moral point? “Democratic” European countries lock up more people for “mean” tweets and silent protests than autocratic Russia (who doesn’t claim to be democratic btw). And if you’re gonna downvote, by all means - prove me that I’m wrong wit

Compare current Western European energy prices with the rest of the world (even adjusted for income parity) and get back to me. While you’re at it, take a look at the recent lists of shuttered industrial manufacturing and petroleum based ag

Can we stop American-moralizing everything? People are allowed to have their own opinions, even annoying ones that offend our sensibilities.

Nevermind, folks - I retract my comments. Elixir is terrible, don't learn it, the market is saturated ;)

I'm one of those fanboys. I've done the react, angular etc front end thing. LiveView just absolutely smokes SPAs and other JS rats-nests in terms of productivity, performance and deployment simplicity (for certain types of apps).

Neato. You might hear from me in the near future. I'm working on a self-hosted CRM/Email Marketing/Drip type of app with Phoenix LiveView - I'm assuming you handle Elixir as first class citizen based on your blog post. I

This is a pretty neat product. Seems like the purpose is to allow deploying and selling of self-hosted instances?

It's less about the language syntax and more about the capabilities of the underlying Erlang runtime. There's also Gleam on top of Erlang if you like stronger typing (gleam.run).

Why not use Elixir for agents as Electric is already heavily invested? It’s a much better fit than JS.

I agree, and it feels like JS is just the wrong runtime for agents. Really languages that can model state in sane ways and have a good concurrency story like Elixir make much more sense. And here’s a fun exercise: ask Claude via Cursor or P

Man people can’t stand that Elon turned Twitter into a free speech platform. Anyways, I'm more of a long-form article, book, podcast and travel guy when it comes to informing my opinion.

Maybe you could recommend some western news sources that haven't been infected by USAIDS?

Sure, sure. Pentagon money going to the western press, USAID (a literal terrorist organization) funding both sides of the narrative, what could go wrong? There was a time liberals screamed at the top of their lungs over this type of threat

It’s just wild to me that an attempt to tally up whats in the community grain store and where it’s allocated out to is even considered a bipartisan issue.

Can anyone still make a case to start a new project in Rails in 2025 when there is Elixir LiveView? I enjoy Ruby but activerecord is a mess and the language is slow and lacks real time functionality.
