While I agree doing anything with a Facebook account is gross, it seems rather, err, trusting to think that Facebook wasn't already linking accounts anyway and are essentially not just getting rid of the system that does that and forci

Consider that iPad has replaced lightning with usb-c and that having ports takes up a lot of space... I think they are just planning to phase out lightning and go port-less on the iPhone.

Clearly you have had a bad experience. Sorry to hear that. I will nearly always, unless explicitly asked not to, offer help to work around a bug if it is at all possible. I can't control if someone is upset by this nor can I tell if th

Even if the original reporter doesn't care (side note, they usually do in my experience), other people also stumble onto the report. There's a lot of assumptions being made here. A maintainer offering help is not a waste of time.

I do not agree at all. Bugs often require work around or alternatives while the bug is still active. You always try to stop the bleeding first before you try to do anything else.

A lot of the time people just don't know about some feature or work-around to the problem. That's likely what's happening there.

As an OSS maintainer, for me it is not snotty, but also not necessary. My biggest issue are people that come and leave comments like "why isn't this fixed yet?", or thumbs down my response that I'd appreciate some help f

Having gone through this with my fam, given that you seem to have reactions to every med, have you considered it may be autism or aspurgers? ADHD and autism are often seen together, and reactions to other meds also seems to be fairly common

Because changing things out is hard and the benefit of pulling in that much more code and complexity is dubious. It seems like you could implement a p2p solution as a pull through registry... as in host a registry (even per node if you like

How is xml simple to parse? It is difficult for both humans and machines. Just because there are libraries doesn't mean it is simple. It's a minefield, with security implications. To be fair... so is yaml.

This is the problem when relying on distros to build and distribute all your software. They also don't want to break people running on a given version of the distro. So typically whatever is stable at the time that the distro version i

I don't agree with the term "hack" here. Different is not "hack". I maintain some very large codebases. This has never been an issue. If one decides to export a function, the only callers of that function will be fr

Honestly any low level/system code is pretty disastrous in Go. Edit: Just to add to that statement: the work stealing goroutine runtime is particularly problematic, certain things are even impossible in go due to it. If you look at run
