Yeah, most boat manufacturers in the world don't hit mass production numbers. Fiberglass is relatively easy to work with requiring very little tooling investment. You can also easily "clone" other boats by taking a mold of th

This is pretty contradictory even in its biases. You assume people can't do anything for motivations other than money and then you say people should give away their work for free. The first one isn't true and the second one is sim

I think the biggest issue with the entire field is not respecting the users. They're treated as potential criminals, their livelihoods and money are not respected at all, they have no recourse to protest administrative action, etc. Its

Apple software is pretty nice with their user experience. But I feel like 90% of this complaint stems from people comparing a $200 Android phone with $1000 iPhone. Happens in laptops too. Its just silly. Go in the same price range and then

Everything you say happens in real life. But these are all signs of bad management and a toxic workplace. They're not at all inevitable. When a company works you don't hear about it. You just see their success, or maybe you don&#x

Yeah, but if you're a ship with a skeleton crew of civilians, you're going to think twice about rescuing a full compliment of soldiers from a dictatorship that just tried to sink you with no reason whatsoever.

I seriously recommend A Challenge to Apollo. An in-depth look at the soviet space program. Its very gritty stuff and a story rarely told.

Falsifiability is not a political cult bugbear. There are very good reasons to pursue it that you can't just handwave away like that, IMO. The psychology and economics examples are very ironic to me as I see the main issue with the eff

I cant upvote this enough. The Vernor really captured this. As a programmer you can clearly see this happening right now. I shudder to think of the massive house of cards we will have in 50 years.

You're being a little myopic. This applies in all industries. Content creation is only one example. You can have the best car in the world, but if all cars are bought in carmazon.com and they ban you, you're fucked. Sure, you can

How do you know that doesn't already happen? Maybe instead of researching the algo and investing in manipulation, they just hand a check to someone at google and you're done. Without transparency, you have no way of knowing. Good
