When is Slack going to release Screenhero as part of their standard product? They swallowed the latter well over a year ago, and nothing's come of it.

Thanks for taking the time to write this up, William. This is a great read, even if only as a helpful "this is how I did something hard, and how it turned out" kind of hacker story. And I could see this being quite relevant to som

Also, did you have to do any SwitchResX hackery? That's the only way I could get macOS to recognize the monitor as a Retina display.

Interesting! So it's not the monitor (TV), it's the MBP. Oh well, will have to wait for the next MBP 15" refresh--don't see any real reason to upgrade yet to the latest TB MBP. Plus, the @30 doesn't normally bother

Didn't even know they eventually replaced AI with a KS10--I had left MIT by 1980-ish (was sysadmin for MIT-EECS and the EE dept LispMs) and didn't keep up much with the goings-on there.

I've got a UN40JU6500 (40" 4K Samsung) on my MBP (15" late 2013) but it doesn't do @60, as far as I know. Are you driving this from a Mac or from a PC? What kind of cable are you using exactly?

ESR forgot to give the reason for XON/XOFF: physical terminals often couldn't keep up with an output stream even at a low 9600 baud, so they'd have to back-pressure the sender (usually a dial-up or direct-connect host) to let

The real and serious problem with this is that the organ donation process biases the medical profession into declaring you "dead" as soon as possible, and ideally even sooner, so that your organs are as fresh as possible.

The war on cash is nothing more than a power grab by the globalists, who want total control of cash (so to speak) flows, both global and (thus cash) local.

RADC was Rome Air Development Center (from memory at the time; I got on the network in the fall of '72 as a frosh at HARV-10), a big funder of ARPA-related research. I'm pretty sure RADC were the funding sources for much of the CS
