AHH, if only I lived in the countryside, rather than in a London suburb where my maximum ADSL speed has for at least the last decade been barely better than a T1 downstream, and hardly better than dialup upstream!

My impression is that it is not so much that management wants to stop leaks (though I'm sure they do) as it is that the vast majority of rank-and-file employees want the leaking to stop because past leaks have so very badly damaged the

My 2007 UK contract contained a non-compete clause. Actually, this was in the confidentiality and IP assignment agreement, which was separate from the main employment contract, and as it happened I only ever signed the latter. But you are

As a Brit, I find it slightly depressing that the author dismisses out of hand the possibility of classifying vehicles based on their registration (licence plate) for being too invasive - because of course in London this is the norm (and we

Differential synchronisation works very well indeed for plain text, but as Neil himself has pointed out, it doesn't necessarily work well for tree-structured data (like XML or JSON) because there's no guarantee that the combinatio

To me, QT 4.0 was the beginning of the end of good UI design at Apple - when the design stopped being done by HCI engineers and started being done by graphic designers instead. Unfortunately there are no other major players doing any better

Wow, that is pretty shitty. Given the number of times over the years that I've had to wipe all Google cookies and site data to fix issues with offline mode in Google Docs, this does not bode well for being able to use Chrome successfu

I wish this were really as true as the author suggests. Unfortunately about two years ago Google turned off the backends that deliver public transport directions for older versions of Maps (in particular, the version that runs on Gingerbre

I'm still using my 2009 Nexus One. It is painfully slow, and won't run any modern apps, and I've tried to find a suitable replacement several times but it seems a shame to throw away a perfectly good phone and I just haven&#

I wouldn't think it would be too hard to use a gyro-stabilized gimbal to keep the antennae pointing in the right direction. Most drone quadcopters used for aerial filming already do this.
