Can't really connect my phone to venue sound systems by Bluetooth when teaching dance classes. And wouldn't want to have to be forced to choose between a 3.5mm adaptor and a charger... This is the main reason I'm still on An

I haven't directly connected my camera to a computer in over a decade. Card comes out of the camera and goes in the SD card slot on the laptop. So much easier and less fiddly.

I think the big-picture answer is that they held a "Latency Code Yellow" back in ca. 2007, and apparently stopped inculcating the same latency-sensitivity in people hired since that finished a year or so later.

I acquired my previous phone in 2009, and continued to use it until early 2018. I expect it's replacement will last me a comparable length of time, though it will be more expensive to keep it going as it does not have a user-replaceab

I am flinching while reading the article because it makes me think about the specific examples in my own mind. I'm not even sure I can finish reading the link; it is just too uncomfortable. Guess I'll have to find a different dis

This seems like a risky strategy, what with the pending lawsuit against archive.org over their National Emergency Library: I am fully expecting that web.archive.org will go away permanently within a few years.

Yes; exactly this. I'm contracted to Google, and so much of my Googler colleagues' time has been wasted in the last year porting projects off of the Python 2 APIs which are about to be shut down. Are they porting to the AppEngine

This article twice references password.google.com, but AFAICT no such site exists. What are they actually talking about?

I think the reduction in usable space for content is so egregious that I am quite sure I will not be upgrading—ever. Too bad: I was looking forward to ARM.

So, I've seen circuit boards with ground planes before, but what I don't quite understand is: why are the holes that are connected to the ground plane connected by two small traces (i.e., are surrounded by two C-shaped cut-outs),

Lots of great comments here and on the gist. My 2¢: I graduated CS in 2000, and from 2007-2010 worked at Google. Towards the end of that time I was struggling hard to get anything done; even just dragging myself into the office was diffic
