Out of curiosity, what is the use case? (For running Windows in the VM.)

ditto is quite good for this. If you have an external hard drive. The tool is built-in. Run man ditto for documentation. rsync is also good.

Oh, the thought didn’t even occur. Pretty wild that these days one can stream 3D games. Gotta try it some day!

I feel I need to get some x86 machine up and running so I can play Portal I and II again. Easily in my top 10 of best games ever.

spiped is solid. Wireguard is another good option that is included in the Linux kernel.

True. The ratio still seems reasonable though.

How would you fund such an operation? It’s not extremely expensive, but it needs a bit of funding. https://community.letsencrypt.org/t/what-it-costs-to-run-let...

I don’t remember now, but there’s lots of info about this game out there. So the risk of being blocked for a longer time is quite low. Wiki: https://universalpaperclips.fandom.com/wiki/Universal_Paperc... Not one but t

I guess many of the static site generators would qualify. Hugo does. Haven’t used any others but I think that’s also true for Jekyll, Zola etc etc.

Yeah, that’s why I believe inkjet printers are better suited for commercial shops than for home use. What home users are motivated to buy enough ink to print a bunch of pictures every 2-3 weeks just to prevent clogging? Sad to hear about th

Don’t install additional root certificates. That’s what Facebook enticed users to do here. Without that root cert they wouldn’t have been able to see as much as they did.

There are no known backdoors in the /usr/bin/xz utility. The backdoor we’re talking about here was in the library. (In Ubuntu I think the package is called liblzma5.)

May I ask why you want inkjet specifically? In my experience, it’s often not worth it. I have settled on a monochrome laser printer from Brother. It’s very reliable. Buying a toner cartridge is not exactly cheap but not really too expensive

We can never be sure about that. One’s threat model has to assume that Mallory can find a way in. Backdoor’s are not super common, but there will always be 0-days. Security operations need to be setup with this in mind. Design your infra fo

First: Apply all official patches via APT. That’s the most important thing. The easiest way to avoid getting pwned is to apply security patches without too long delay. Then consider defense-in-depth. If you have sshd exposed to the Internet

Many quality Mac apps are not free. Fair enough IMO, then we know the developer gets some income for their work and hopefully stay motivated to refine the application. My favourite in this category is Flying Meat’s Acorn. Really nice.

How? AFAIK a passkey is just a replacement for a password. If my passkey tells you I can authenticate as john.doe@gmail.com, how does that help with establishing trust and identity?

Yes I know that one. But I don’t really see a conection still. The xz backdoor was not introduced by Debian, it was introduced by a bad faith actor via the xz project (aka liblzma). Not only Debian was affected, Fedora was too. AFAIK there
