This is weird. I'm wearing this headset RIGHT now it is the ONLY BT headset that works, with HD quality on both my mac AND my Pixel 2 cell phone. It is amazing..

Holy crap, I bought this book when it came out and lost it in a move long ago. I guess if I live long enough all my favorite computer texts will be available free at some point.

My 2013 Volt has 85K EV miles (100K total).. Zero battery degradation.

Wrong. For the energy it takes to refine 1 gal of gas you can drive an EV around 27 miles.

Dood, I am NOT a fan of Larry but he was a very, very booster of the cloud... and I'm not even a fan of that idea. But give credit where credit is due.

Huge Tesla fan here but this is the one thing that has me up at night too. I would like someone to "show me the way" on this topic too.

As my kids grow up, go to college and move away... at least I can count on the HN gui to be the same until I die.

It is harder than you think and it is a HUGE advantage. I have a non-Tesla EV, trust me, the public charging network is pretty horrible.

It takes, conservatively, 6.5kwh of power to refine 1 gal of gas. My Volt travels around 27 miles on that much electric power. Basically, if you stop refining gas you'll have pretty much enough power for all EVs.

Range more than charging times. With EVs (and if you have a charger) waking up with a 'full tank' is pretty amazing... something ICE auto can never experience.

When I say "shame" I mean the consensus from the auto industry was/is: 1) EVs are slow 2) EVs can go far on a single charge 3) EVs are ugly 4) Batteries degrade a lot over time 5) EVs are expensive. etc, etc, etc Tesla has kn

This isn't 2010. It is settled, range-extenders have a very limited self-life. I've had a Volt for five years, love the car. For me and most of my fellow Volt owners, our next (and then on) car will be a full EV.

The car companies just made compliance cars (and created astroturf org) to battle that. Until Tesla shamed them, they never really had to make serious effort.
