I've not seen this particular mural, but if you ever find yourself near an English country church in the middle of no where you will most probably find it unlocked, and inside, an ark of art built up over generations (now, often, sitti

A lot of interesting debate on phone bans right now. Including a great discussion on twitter about how some of the research being used to justify bans is using some dodgy stats: https://x.com/MatthewBJane/status/18

They produced a video each week for six years outlining what was going on in the second world war. Quite an undertaking and quite a historical document in itself. The full 868 video playlist is here: https://m.youtube.com/pl

My thoughts exactly, it even uses the same pipe syntax, though I do prefer `%>%`. I've been avoiding SQL for a while now as it feels so clunky next to the tidyverse

The thing that jumps out to me is how well read Einstein is, some of the modern day scientists could do with a much broader education. CP Snow's two cultures argument seems more relevant now than ever.

I've been using quarto a lot too. I've found the typst pdf travel output to be a bit rougher than latex pdf when using GT. Hopefully something that will get fixed.

I was thinking something very similar to this. For all the thinking about the Roman empire, we (well the vast majority of we) need to be very thankful we live now rather than then. Tom Holland's dominion gives a very interesting run do

That solves it then. When I was a fresh cheeked starter at IBM, the grey beards always called it "sequel", whilst we called it "ess queue ell". Always listen to the grey beards

This is true, I've found teaching r to get things done is very fast and readable fully achievable in a semester compared to teaching pandas (and also having to teach how to program in python)
