Yup, switched from embedded (on high-speed trains), to modern backend, x4 my salary. Unfortunate since embedded was super interesting.

I wish I could find a list for books more like "The stray shopping carts of eastern north america" but less like the just {$wtf/shock value title}.

Ah! I just bought and read the first last month (and thoroughly enjoyed it!). I'll probably buy this second version too.

Flux, latest Midjourney, or even dall-e... I'm still disappointed that 3 of my sci-fi prompts never works (interior of an O'Neill Cylinder, Space elevator, rotating space station). I hope someone makes lora of those one day.

I'm flabbergasted by the majority of answer there, and wondering if I've been extremely lucky. I've never even heard of a (senior) BE asked to do some FE work. I've done like one FE PR at each startup I've worked at

36kW is far from common in france. Heck, event 3-phase is not that common. I've never known anyone with 36kW except farmers. According to ADEME, 6kW is the most common with 70% of (I think) non-commercial subscriptions.

Well, I'm a data point of 1, but on my 1400€ 2021 phone the glue is failing and the back slowly coming off, so I wouldn't mind gasket and screws...

Not sure if it fits "anime" but the recent animation movie Mars Express is quite good, hugue GitS vibes, tho I don't recommend watching it in the original french even if you speak french like me, french dubs are horribles.

My backyard: Germany because there are trees and a fence (? Also, no). A picture of the farmer's market of my town: correctly assume France but confidently incorrect on the town and landmarks (off by 200-300km I'd say).

I got an LG UltraFine 43UN700-B 3 years ago, couldn't be happier (well, maybe with a higher refresh rate, but for dev it's enough). 43 seems big at first glance but I got used to it super fast.

I was reading "50 years of text games", and one game (Hunt The Wumpus) piqued my interest so I decided to reimplement it in go, based only on the description of the book, initial (working) commit took a few hours over the weekend,

There is exactly that on high speed trains (at least in France), I wonder why it's not on airplanes.

In general you would apply MISRA only on some critical parts of the software, and the infotainment wouldn't be part of this. At least it was like this when I applied MISRA on high speed trains, and when I worked briefly at the company

I upgraded from a day1 vive to the quest 3 last week, boy what an insane progress (and for half the 2016 price!), except for tracking, can't beat lasers I guess, but it's good enough.

Not dismissing anything you said but bool isn't C89 right ? Back ~6 years ago when I worked in embedded C89, bool was just a #define true (1==1), #define false (0==1) so I guess it makes sense it isn't in the lib ?

The Waygarers series by Becky Chambers. I'm usually not into space operas and more into hard SF, but this one was a superb experience, far away from the too-gritty things I read usually, really positive.
