I don't mind if it's a proxy. I value my privacy more than whether DDG is maintaining its own entire search stack.

I guess Arrived make a conservative bet on the pool and offer the "renter" a fraction of their calculated profits over iterative re-valuations.

There's such an "ego load" associated with this investment too. I find that even when a developer comes to realise that the SPA mess is largely unjustified, they're rarely willing to admit or change anything.

Agree. You can write terse, maintainable, well encapsulated, testable and readable code in most any language. The problem is about the humans not the language they select. But yes, complexity is also a major problem.

Then the problem here seems like the lack of drive towards intention-revealing naming. It's burdensome, but worth it when the intention is revealed and prevents the navigation to the implementation. But like the author said, the reuse

That's possible but unlikely. I'd be willing to bet there are engineers who are experiencing a lot of guilt about this right now. Not many.. but maybe even a handful. These are people who might not have been able to do anything ab

That is true, but at some point it's hard to distinguish between parts of the FAA and parts of Boeing, owed to the simple fact that Boeing have so much influence over the FAA. Statements about how Boeing more or less "certified it

I tend to agree. And if this can be traced to someone with influence, how was it possible for the company to be structured so that a single point of failure was possible - that speaks to a larger problem and then puts the senior exec on the

Yes but not in an absolute way. I think we can only assume that MCAS uses this as one of it's many inputs in order to determine it's flight control logic.

Agreed. It seems more plausible that the "injected code" would be limited to (1) the WhatsApp app, and (2) the infrastructure outside of the Signal Protocol implementation. If true, this still poses a problem to comms/calls s
