This is a thing on private tracker websites, at least Gazelle based ones. You can give a custom URL to load CSS from. Not sure I've used any other websites that allow you to do this, though I wish there were more that did. I think t

Wow this is pretty amazing... I imagine your proxy bill must be pretty huge! I always wondered how companies like Clearview scraped Instagram etc at scale. Do you add user to a queue, get all of that users posts, then add everyone they fo

40 lines of C to control brightness on Linux in the way I like (Pressing brightness up key should make it go up more than pressing brightness down key makes it go down). It took 20 minutes to make. Used as a keyboard binding. TODO list pr

I don't think I'd have the stomach to spend a year writing something that I think is really good only for it to end up on libgen a couple days later.

I would've never used Linux and probably wouldn't have got into programming without https://github.com/lwfinger/rtl8723be (it took like five or six years to get mainlined). He's a hero.

Yeah I can do pretty much all of those. I'd prefer being able to do this sort of thing with images though :\

I, a random HN user, can personally attest to having never pictured anything and being a 5 in the sense of this image: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3d/Aphantas... And apparently they

OK maybe I'm just jealous. I've only asked my siblings about this but none of them see anything either.

I don't see anything. I feel like we're talking past each other. I am skeptical that "visualize an apple" to some people gets them the mental equivalent of a Blender model where they get a 360 degree view of the image

Some users comment frequently and uniquely enough that they get their own cluster. I also like how there's "Deno vs Node" lol. It'd be cool if you could click on a comment and get the most similar ones by whatever dist

Everything is outsourced to the compositor. It's insane. Same reason there's no xbindkeys for Wayland - every compositor needs to implement their own version of it. Every compositor needs their own screen reader and accessibili

There's stuff like this littered throughout the article: > Alexander invents no new tactics and employs only one clever ruse in this whole set of battles. And ascribing a lot to Philip's people like Antipater. Which I dispute.

OK I was wrong in some respects. Philip was undoubtedly very smart. I guess my broader point is that planning to do it and actually doing it are different things. Like Alexander sieged Tyre which was pretty much thought to be impossible.

I haven't read nearly as much as the author but having read the Peter Green book on Alexander a while ago, I agree with the general premise of the article but have a few reservations. Maybe I'm wrong, I read the parts of the book
