No heating loads, it's a natural gas furnace. Loads are just lights, furnace blower, and other ancillary loads. It's not exactly the same as just adding battery backup, because the marginal cost of adding battery backup to a solar

The point of adding solar is you don't need a battery sized for multiple day outages, just enough to get you through the night. And instead of a generator which you need to spend money to maintain every year and otherwise just deprecia

My FIL had a 10kw natural gas generator installed, which is negative ROI. He could have gotten solar with battery backup for a positive ROI.

It's stupid to recycle when we can reuse first. There are nearly zero production EV batteries which are unsuitable for reuse for stationary applications. Even if the quantity is too low for mass commercial scale (first gen Leaf) they&#

The difference is you could move electricity from the sunny side of the planet to the dark efficiently and from Northern to Southern hemisphere, which would enable you to use cheap solar power for all electricity needs in summer and winter,

You're probably being silly, but for anyone else, gas turbines as used for generators don't have jet exhausts on them, i.e. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yR5oVn-Fvvg
