You only have to trust that ONE of the participants has not colluded. Zcash offers more anonymity at the expense of more computational resources.

A bit flip on a pool without redundancy will result in an unrecoverable error. There are no recovery tools for ZFS. Since ZFS caches aggressively in RAM it's conceivable that faulty RAM may write corrupt data to disk.

Open source is catnip for software engineers. It's worth remembering that ethics go beyond software rights.

I'm not aware of any Proof-of-Storage systems but Storj and similar projects are combining blockchain cryptocurrency with p2p storage. It's an interesting idea.

How would you prove having storage? Seems it would use a lot of bandwidth or computation when calculating hashes.

You could get a dedicated Xeon with 16GB ECC for $36 a month, that's less than $1000 for two years. You would also be able to forego the VMs since you can run your containers on the metal.

A major point of containerization is more efficient resource utilization, memory in particular. How has it come to this?

Docker seems very limited when it's unsuitable to run databases. I've never seen this limitation with other container solutions. What is it about Docker that makes it problematic?

Exactly. Apple should build the post-Cloud era instead of trying to beat Google on their home turf. If Tim Cook really cares about privacy, bringing user's data back into their own hands is the only way to go.

I think in the long run Apple will try to move developers over to iPad Pro. Rudimentary Xcode functionality is already in place on iOS.
