The current president is the same as the PRI presidents that governed Mexico for 70 years. He just has a new label in a party that he owns.

I looked up to Miguel in the 1990s. But him and his father ended up supporting the current president of Mexico. Who is a demagogue with kleptomaniac tendencies.

Agile is much more than Scrum. There many different ways to do Agile. Just as an example Scott McConnell has a great book called Rapid Application Development (1996) where he documents many best practices and approaches that are essentially

Interesting idea. I would change it like this. #developers / #non-developers Where non-developers are people involved in the project who don't actually write code. (e.g. resource managers, analysts, project managers, QA, product o

May be you are right. The moment that you have a non-technical person leading the effort you are not doing agile anymore.

I think both things can be true. - People try agile but they don't do it right. Then they fail. - There are A LOT of consultants and managers pushing Agile (Mostly some Scrum practices) but they have absolutely no idea how software eng

I find it amusing that AWK is coming back. I used it extensively back on the day, but let it go when I picked up Perl 4 and then Perl 5. So Perl is no longer king for unix scripting. It was replaced by other languages; but it seems like the

To be a good Technical Manager, you have to be good a the technical stuff and also good at the management stuff. You can also be mediocre at the technical stuff if you are really good at the management stuff or viceversa.

Agree. At the very least. Companies should buy support contracts for the free software they use. But there is not an easy way to do this either.

We need better ways to fund Open Source projects. We all benefit tremendously by them. I think, this is one way it can work. Companies pledge to donate $X USD amount per year per software engineer (SE) to a foundation (or whatever legal en

I have been a proponent of Agile for many years. But it bothers me that it has been used to take power way from Senior Developers. We really need to bring back the Tech Leads.

I might be naive. But I think high property taxes help keep house prices down. Either you pay for a mortgage or you pay property taxes. The speculators may still buy property, but at least the taxes go to the community.
