I am a junior dev. It is hard for me to get in that dating mentality that I should be testing to see if my interviewer and I are simpatico. I feel a lot of pressure to fill in the blanks on what I want to know without asking, so I don'

Something that's been frustrating for me is the bureaucracy around getting hired to government positions or school districts. I have a California State ID, which should serve well as identification - but I've been turned away by

Feinstein is just the worst. She is the equivalent of Mitch McConnell for the Democrats. She fully understands exactly what she's proposing and she's the biggest hypocrite for it.

I don't think you actually disagree with how Apple responded, but you do realize the privacy of more than a few billion people was in jeopardy during this 'fight'. I would consider that more important than the wishes of the

I think the appreciating value in housing far outpaces inflation - and I wouldn't expect retirees on a fixed income to have planned for such increases 30 years ahead of time. We need cheaper housing - desperately. Poor. fucking. city.

Now that would be exciting - I'd love to see how Facebook augments reality for social networking. :-) (which sounds a bit silly) I want to see posts from my friends in the real world, rather than my friends in the real world.

I sometimes wonder if there is no 'After Facebook'. I use different services for different community focuses - like YouTube and Twitch for gaming videos/streams I watch with friends. Instagram for incidental activity picture

I think we currently suffer from a tax system that enables double-taxation by default - unless you're fairly good filing your taxes and know where to claim deductions. My parents raised me to be knowledgeable of what's a work exp

Maybe I don't use Facebook enough but I find it really inconvenient to watch any videos I'm not directly linked to. If they show up among my friends' postings they're always pre-muted, so I miss the first couple seconds

Personally I would rather have no income tax or property tax - just very high sales tax. IMO, sales tax has a much larger tax base than any of the others - as income tax requires you to have a job/be a citizen; and property tax requir

Final answer: Residential only, not commercial/business property. Seniors aren't the only ones who need this. I also want to add that what sucks so hard about businesses being protected by Prop 13 is that businesses can live much

Prop 13 is really great and really bad. My grandparents own a home in Livermore they've had from 1925. Livermore is now a very costly place to live in, and modern property taxes would make it impossible for them to live in a city they

I think this kind of goes both ways. I've had instances where if I reveal my technical experience with the usual way I speak about such things - I get cold/rude service. This happened at one of those AT&T storefronts, Best Bu

I completely agree. I was thinking it'd be nice if you could set a signing policy on GitHub - either all commits are signed or none are. A mixed situation just leads to harmful confusion. You would still need to verify sigs yourself,

I'm happy about this but I thought signing commits wasn't a good thing to do. Linus wrote a lengthy post[1] on this saying you should only care to sign tags. (I'm not a security person) Read svckr's comment below and li

Forgive me here if I'm being argumentative, but I think we're both speculating. Someone further up the chain mentioned this sort of deduplication might be done by the linker, but the code for the duplicated type would still exist

Full disclosure: I have not had a problem with this. It's just a theory I have that this is low-hanging fruit to reduce C++ binary size. You're less likely to define the same structure and methods of a type in exactly the same way

That is not what I'm saying. Example: You can have 2 struct types that each only contain an int with the same member name. They would [likely] have the same binary representation. You could then create 2 vector types specialized for
