Worth noting that Apple poured a lot of resources into making WebGPU happen. WebGPU is, in a great many ways, Metal but cross-platform. The way this pays off is if game developers start targeting WebGPU instead of Vulkan or DX12. That could

If that’s what happens, it’s not a great outcome. Foundation changes policy, restricting the use of a mark, to enormous opposition. After much dissent, the community responds by… ceasing to use the mark. That’s what they were asking for! Th

May be of interest: I released a port of Incremental to Rust the other week. It has a bit of a way to go in polish and docs, but the core implementation and API should be very familiar. (To the extent that it uses GADTs for node kinds just

You seem to be implying these researchers are reinventing the wheel by making a syntax that isn't based on anything that's already implemented (like Haskell). That couldn't be further from it. The syntax is absolutely unimpor

It almost but not quite goes without saying, but if the import is (for example) the YouTube embed client script, you should not put an integrity check on it. Because you expect YouTube to put out a new client script from time to time. If th

It is useless for everyone except singers. If you’re a singer, you can cold-start a song in tune and have the band come in seconds later. Hard to do that without the confidence that you both started correctly and haven’t drifted.

The reason intellectual property was invented was to encourage people to go and create new things and share them, the logic being that having a monopoly on your own work by default means you can make money from being creative and therefore

With reference to the section on how difficult it is to build wpgu-native and how you basically have to use a precompiled binary, there appears to be an easier way to integrate a Cargo library into a CMake project: https://github

Unrolling loops reduces the cost of loop termination checking. A tight loop like `for (i=0; i < n; i++) { acc += 1; }` is mostly overhead, you are constantly checking to see if you’re done or not. If you were given a loop like this in re

For 32 bit floats, you can skip the math and just test all of them. LLVM will vectorise and unroll this nicely. fn main() { let start = std::time::Instant::now(); let total = (0..=u32::MAX) .filter(|&x|

They thought of that. There are Box::new_in variants for all the other ways of creating a Box. You can put data in there to identify a green thread’s heap. https://doc.rust-lang.org/stable/std/boxed/struct.Box

We can talk in specifics: this example was about making people use unsafe to avoid having to type <'static> in the general case. The author had been trying for a number of paragraphs to avoid polluting the type name with generics
