Context is key. I haven't followed this shirt brouhaha in any serious depth but I assume that all of his colleagues and management saw him wearing the shirt before he delivered his talk. AFAIK it became a problem afterwards. So, if you

Yep, Jaguar Land Rover (Birmingham) too. And (IIRC) a lot of engine design for various manufacturers still happens in and around Brackley.

True you need a VM but performance doesn't have to be crippled. My out of office/at home machine is a Dell Inspiron 5558 (Core i7, 16GB RAM). I stuck an intel 256GB SSD in it, took the free upgrade to Windows 10 and do all my dev

In my case, I have three servers (each with ECC 32GB, Xenon quad core, 2x3TB disks and unlimited bandwidth), a 5 port internal switch, two public IPv4 addresses per server, a public failover IP, 300GB of network backup space and two additio

I suppose it depends on your paranoia level and whether or not you were using keybased auth or passwords. If you were using keybased auth then simply regenerating the host key should be enough. Re: mail issues. We had the same problem (our

Ah ok. I've only ever rented servers from them that already had a second NIC present (so I just needed to pay the flexi-pack charge to activate it). Didn't realise they also sold servers with single NICs.

If you're being offered options in an early stage startup you need to ask at a minimum (and any half decent founder should answer): 1. How many shares of the same class are in circulation 2. What is the price per share at current compa

The €12,61 I mentioned is the Flexi-Pack charge (just without VAT). There are no other costs apart from a one off charge of ~€25 to install a switch.

No need to junk your server, just regenerate the affected key. Instructions are on their wiki here: http://wiki.hetzner.de/index.php/Ed25519

€12,61/month extra per server and a one off ~€25 for the switch is hardly extortionate given what they charge for servers...

They do offer cheap and cheerful desktop grade gear but their PX and R ranges are server grade (Xeon chips, ECC memory etc). They offer PowerEdge boxes too. I've been a customer for a while but needed some spare, cheap server grade box

I really wanted to like VSCode but couldn't get over the "working files" paradigm and consequent lack of tabs :( Have gone back to Sublime 3 for now but if the VSCode devs ever decided to support tabs I'd switch.

I used UberX a few weeks back and I'm sure I remember a setting somewhere where you could specify a % of the fare as a tip. I remember because it defaulted to 20% and I reduced it to 10% - yes, I'm a cheap bastard :)

The NDC spec is still evolving (and suffering from a bit of mission creep). There's also the chicken and egg problem - airlines aren't going to invest in building in-house NDC based hosting and distribution platforms until there&#

Hi David The interview was fascinating, really enjoyed it! When you were talking about the complexity of airline fares it reminded me of ATPCO. Did they exist back then or was that something the airlines later brought into being themselves?

This is why I really hope NDC ( http://www.iata.org/whatwedo/airline-distribution/ndc/pages/... ) takes off, airlines simplify their fare rules, invest in IT talent and start self hosting. Travel providers

What about the common trick of serving static assets via a separate domain (one that's still owned and hosted by you) to avoid the overhead of cookies from the main site being included in asset requests?
