I've never used them and admittedly don't know much about their model (the only time I fly US carriers is when I'm crossing the pond from Europe).

Ryanair are running at >90% seat capacity across their routes, without overbooking. Not sure the complexity of introducing it would be worth the gain given their load factors. Edit: then again, with their relatively recent business plus

Overbooking is a technique used by legacy airlines. Pure LCCs don't use it (certainly in Europe) because their tickets are non-refundable other than from EC261 claims and they don't have inter-lining or partnerships with other car

I seem to be the minority in this thread but am happy with the flexibility, maturity & reliability of Vagrant. The trick has been sticking to virtualbox, off-loading all provisioning work to ansible as early as possible and using dual n

Given ipv4 exhaustion I'm not sure the pros outweigh the cons but your post just triggered some happy long forgotten memories. Manchester Uni (circa ~2001) as part of JANET ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JANET ) ha

Relationships, networking and face to face advice matter (a lot). Put the time in to build this up, ideally starting before you've quit your day job and jumped in to building a business.

Still surprising it's failing this hard given most of the data on the site is static (I think? Difficult to tell since almost none of the site loads). Edit: tbh it's a shame they chose to do it all in react/js. I think this s

I don't know enough about the US market to have an informed opinion, though there are a few differences I'm sure play a part: 1. Lots of different languages and cultures in the EU make it easier for startup airlines to quickly gro

The market response (at least in Europe, after liberalising the common airspace) has been the rise and utter domination of LCC airlines. Point-to-point flights, standardised aircraft, super low fares and great coverage. The success of the m

Or just use redis for everything :) One instance for the bitfield, one for atomic locks (done with a lua script) and one for tile data (with a few slaves for reads). Simple and independently scaleable.

You shouldn't dismiss it so quickly. The deck does exactly what it needs to do if your objective is getting face time with VCs as an early stage start-up: 1. Kept it under 15 slides 2. Used tight copy to succinctly get across what they

Fair enough. This is the problem with consumer gear, it's all so variable. For me, Draytek have been the only vaguely consistent vendor over the years. I've had countless issues with T-link, Asus and Netgear routers.
