i live in alaska, and there are a lot of undereducated people that do just fine setting up home networked cameras. it isnt difficult to do, and people here really hate "the man" so ring and any other cloud based security is not an

but if you use the analog hole and restream, then the passwd stays local, the restream can be made available to a remote guest accessing your LAN.

i think the user should dominate the internet. just like prebrowser era. so many people have been trained to think the browser is the internet, and the real internet is somehow a deep,dark net that should be feared.
