Poor developers, making 500k/year working in perfectly safe conditions must be real tough. I don’t think burnout is the reason for the dip in quality, Apple software has been crap for a long time on the Mac.

The biggest issue with pastebins is definitely not that. Look into why most pastebins close doors (hint: people aren’t nice)

I had that discussion with someone before. They were under the impression that the registry is rally permanent while GitHub could go away. Aside from the platform betting, they really thought their 2012 package (and particularly its tests)

You say that as packages never receive updates. Unless you’re doing a lot of installs every day (let’s say on CI), you’re suggesting it’s better to forcibly download a hundred megabytes of data daily just to potentially save a couple of m

Carriers always want to charge as much as possible. In most of the world you can still pay data in gold coins. Just this summer I was screwed by Vodafone charging me €6/day on the first network connection without a plan. This in the sa

Don’t be silly. You know any website can just use a canvas to show text and it’d be over. I wanna know how well your CSS overrides work on Google Docs and Google Maps. Users lost that fight when CSS was introduced. I wish the web was just p

> 3G mobile broadband rolled out around 2007/2008, and it was unlimited on iPhone. Slight correction, I had to go look: AT&T started rolling out UMTS (3G) in 2002. I already had a 3G smartphone in 2004 in Europe that could do vi

For those wondering, it’s not live yet. Chrome Canary just shipped it (behind a flag?) but it’s still up in the air, even the property name itself. Follow: https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/7542

Whenever I see software under v1, I see developers who are afraid of commitment. There’s nothing special about v1, there’s no reason to keep a useless zero for a decade. At some point you gotta realize you’ve been using the minor version as

The dashboard and its animations were killer in 2005. For someone coming from Windows XP, where the UI could be often seen painted pixel by pixel, a smooth water drop over everything, including videos, was magic.

Totally agree, I'm just saying it's unfortunately a standard across the industry, it's not just Booking. You're always allowed to set "show full price", which is then remembered after the first visit. It's

I think most of the commenters experience Airbnb in the US, which I'm sure has become a shitfest in later years. In other parts of the world (Asia) I'm still able to find apartments that fit me, but I do still need to compare to p
