Agreed. I'd been reading about Amazon's treatment of their warehouse workers over the years and an article in The Guardian [1] finally pushed me over the edge. I stopped shopping at Amazon (I shopped a huge amount there) and cance

Ah nice, thanks, missed the part about requiring "objspace" to mix them in and assumed they would be on the already existing ObjectSpace module.

I really like the ObjectSpace.trace_object_allocations addition. I had a quick look at the 2.1 docs for ObjectSpace and there seem to be all sorts of interesting methods in there reachable_objects_from(obj) and memsize_of(obj) for example.

I guess it depends on who you ask. My wife (a surgeon) says that this is often not true for most of the staff. For example if you ask the OR/Floor nurses they will know if the surgeon is truly terrible, but in her experience (hearing f

See my other post in this thread about this, but I disagree. Even other surgeons often do not know how good another surgeon is - unless they have operated with them directly.

Interesting article. My wife is a surgeon and I'm interested to see what she has to say about it. One small anecdote - recently she had a colleague (another surgeon) ask her discreetly whether she would recommend another surgeon for an

All worked fine. ruby 2.0-p247 compiled and install fine using rvm. Postgres backed Rails app worked too (using homebrew installed versions of postgres/mysql).

It always seemed likely to me that governments can generate fake trusted certs for browser TLS traffic and then man in the middle the traffic, but what are the likely modes of attack otherwise? I don't really see what they are from thi

I maintain the kpcb.com website and I'm watching the server logs at the moment for this page - it is quite amazing how much traffic nginx can serve up without missing a beat on a single small server!

That article, at least in part, explains that the Go Regexp engine handles regexps that would cause pathological behavior in backtracking implementations. From the article: "Some might argue that this test is unfair to the backtracking impl

I notice you are using the Go Regexp library for extracting log data. Have you noticed any performance issues with the regexps, or any bump in performance between 1.0 and 1.1? It appears to be one of the parts of Go that doesn't perform ver

I definitely recommend checking this out if you are interested in error and event tracking. They've built an excellent dashboard and a simple to use API. Paul and Todd are smart guys and very responsive. Looking forward to Errplane updates.

I agree with the 'Go is fun' (and easy to pick up) sentiment. I spent a few weeks recently writing an NTLM library for Go for a consulting client (I hope they'll let us open source it at some point). All the parsing and bit manipulation was
