I totally get your point! As someone who is not coming from JS, I agree with you! But you must understand that I/O in JS is async, it's how the language is build! People who are advanced in async programming find this very comfort

as for password, I use password manager. Problem with oauth that I can't make e-mail unique and I can't know where spam is coming from. ex: user+dropbox@mydomain.com will be unique for that domain.

I've just checked, you are right! Correct me if I'm wrong, AWS ES service still uses ES free licence but they've re-written the plugins so they won't use ES and pay ES fee? With new licence, AWS won't be able to use

I'm not sure that if I use ES in my datacenter I would be effected as long as it's internal tool for analysing data. I'm not lawyer but this is what I understand from their statement.
