It was only a matter of time. Great software in the early 2010s, when it had no good competitors. But with the software quality decline, dubious decisions by the last 2 CEOs, and intense competition, it was bound to die when interest rates

There's a fork in the road. IRL socialization is selective, since someone needs to want to talk to you specifically; you decide who you talk to, instead of listening to random people. For a minority, online socializing is mostly sele

Looks cool. The announcement talk about watching movies in the Overlay's browser. But I tested this new Steam, and according to the Overlay browser's user agent, it's Chrome 85 (actually CEF), almost 3 year old, full of secur

I don't think Apple's just doing this for the premium feel of it. Plastic gives you much shittier visual quality than glass (definitely not enough for reading text for hours). Metal is a better heat conductor, lets you have quiete

Yes, they replace them because not only would your glasses not fit, they'd also mess up the field-of-view or the perspective according to what I've read (forgot the link). So you need custom lenses.

I checked a translation dictonary. Apparently it means crimes in general. I found a French government website that defines it as all crimes[0]. In their annual crime statistics they use it to refer to violence, thefts, robberies, property d

This increases verifiability. Not security. And it's not the real issue. On Linux, many apps are open-source yet users don't compile them themselves; they trust that their distro vets packages properly before making them available

I've experienced mouse cursor lag on M1 MacBook Air, but for me it only happens after the MacBook has runs out of battery, gone into hibernation mode, then got woken up. (Trackpad) cursor will lag until the next full reboot. Seems to b

This is macho-computing bullshit, the same as the 1980s "it's a toy unless it's a command line". For most users, SIP increases ownership and control. Chrome can no longer make your Mac unbootable.[0] Journalists and hu

Where's the centralization concern? Libgen sites can just switch to non-Cloudflare IPFS gateways. I don't see how this move causes any harm. Cloudflare's decision impacts nothing, precisely because IPFS is decentralized.
