I don't understand why users of branded types use strings as brands. Also using a utility type makes unreadable the TypeScript errors related to this type. If I had to use branded types, I personally would prefer a different approach:

proc_macros are so terrible and propagate attributes everywhere. It would be so much easier to write derive macros with reflection support. This would also avoid fragile code generation in some cases.

I only buy phones with great support for LineageOS [0], which is basically the open source version of Android with some adaptations... Even if I bought a 2024 phone, I would install LineageOS to make sure there are no backdoors on my phone.

Just use/buy an "old" phone with a jack? It is easy to find used phones (2021 or earlier) with headphone jacks. I have a 2017 phone and plan to upgrade to a 2020 phone.

SVG? Maybe XML/XSLT? We have also PDFs (yes it is not text). Otherwise, none in my knowledge. Using plugins, you could think about Markdown, wiki markup, ...

Calling the TypeScript Compiler could slow down our linter making the switch from TypeScript ESlint to Biome less attractive. We don't aim to build a complete type system, just the minimal parts to be able to implement most of the lint
