Pretty clever comment, made me think if this is the exact same thing as human stress eating.

I'm just struggling to see how the author says any $19 an hour job is unattractive. It reads as a comparison, that it is unattractive compared to the inflated figures Uber previously provided. "Uber’s no longer making those lofty

Well the way I read it was the author poo poos $19 an hour because Uber originally claimed their drivers were making " $74,000 a year in San Francisco". $19/hour isn't great compared to $74,000 a year.

That is guilt by association and not really a meaningful argument though. Marx and Engels are used all the time in literary criticism, gender studies, sociology. You just seem to have a really big bone to pick with Marxists.

Marx and Engels are hugely influential and popular philosophers. The idea of "wage slavery" is a pretty common and legitimate one. Just because you think it is "over the top" doesn't make it not a legitimate view.

"The people who work at Google, Facebook, etc can’t imagine how everything they make is not, like, totally awesome." This is basically the premise of Dave Eggers' The Circle which takes it to a very scary conclusion.

I really don't think you have a very good handle on what you're railing against. Especially because at the end you conflate diversity in FOSS with criticism of Linus' attitude. This just reads like you have a really big axe t

It is a reaction to "sea lioning" where GG seems to be injected into every possible discussion and once flagged as off topic and removed the conspiracy theory of "censorship" is fueled.

Definitely experienced this with older dogs my family fosters. People go straight for the puppies but there are so many great older dogs in shelters. Just have to deal with some behavioral stuff (put up with barking most of the time).
