Here in Switzerland children start walking to school at around 5-years. Parents aren't allowed to bring them to school. If a parent escorts their children to school they'll be told not to. If they keep doing it they'll get a

It's strict here in Switzerland and from what I've heard similarly in Japan. There really isn't much that can actually be recycled - PET can be but other plastics are incinerated to produce electricity so they have to be sort

I have an ancient forest near where I live in Switzerland. In the core zone of the forest they do no maintenance whatsoever. The trees live, they get gigantic and very old. They die. At some point the top breaks off and then many years late

US government is stealing money payed by Switzerland for F-35s. Basically Switzerland bought 5 patriot batteries but the USA couldn't deliver so they cancelled payments. Then the USA took payment for the F-35s and applied that as patri

Here in Switzerland when children order shrimp at a restaurant I tell them that they come from the shrimp mines in the glaciers.

It's like Swiss watches. Sure, a digital watch would be better but if you're really into mechanics and engineering a fancy hand-made swiss watch is your thing.

Seems like you'd end up with even more waste in the end. For example, the navy's nuclear reactor graveyard: https://interestingengineering.com/military/trench-94-the-ee... You could probably just sink it all

I wonder how long they had from the collapse to it reaching villages. Here in Switzerland glaciers and thawing mountains are monitored pretty closely with sensors. Villages are evacuated when it starts to get dangerous.

I'm so embarrassed now, thinking about how we have to use an extension cord for our Raclette grill... we have an 8-tray Raclette Grill and our neighbors have a 12 tray grill which also made us feel inadequate but at least they have to

The picture of the proposed development is really very jarring and would change the image of Menlo Park drastically. I guess that's fine though, they need housing, but it looks like something in downtown San Jose.
