That sums up bluetooth in general. Trying to use a bluetooth device with multiple devices/computers is a pain.

There was such a product as you described: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AlphaSmart They stopped making them in 2013.

I guess, you haven't read up about Dysgraphia then. When I was made aware/diagnosed (mid 1990's), we didn't have Internet-enabled lightweight laptops, but Alphasmarts (which are no longer made).

I should of mentioned it earlier, but I do have a medical condition, which a previous poster mentioned (Dysgraphia). I also did "navigate" the college bureaucracy and sometimes had to push teachers to allow use of a tablet or lapt

My teachers noticed it in the 3rd grade. I was able to write cursive, but it took me far longer. The result of this is me using a device called an Alphasmart (they stopped making them a couple of years go), through the rest of my educatio

Some of us also have terrible handwriting, so taking notes by hand is out of the question. Though I will also surmise that they can also be a distraction.

I still think the combined router/modem is the issue. I've worked with one of the combined router/modems with a Comcast business connection before. Very buggy, and Getting the static IPv6 and IPv4 is a herculean task. The Cis

Did not know that. Honestly MIT's IT department should of given stakeholders more notice about this. I've honestly never had the chance to work on a public facing network (My alma mater, GMU, has a mostly natted network).

Here in the US, having a 3g/wifi tablet would be a waste of money, because the two major GSM carriers are putting most of their spectrum on their respective LTE bands. T-Moible is planning on sunsetting 3G as well.

That's great and all, but the majority of us have lived in a IPv4 NAT world for most of our lives. A previous poster even mentioned that a student group runs a cloud hosting service on campus, making some of this moot: "SIPB (MIT&

Honestly I would ditch the Comcast provided router, and bring your own cable modem and router. I can't count all the number of issues I've had with Verizon and Comcast provided equipment.
