you're right i'm fixing that bug now...it looks like price changes do not propagate to all servers at once so the load balancer is causing different prices to come back if you reload an app's page right after a price change happens

After the easy stuff: move your database to its own server, add a load balancer in front of additional web servers, implement memcached, start splicing your database to multiple servers, continue to add web servers, serve your static files

I would argue that by putting such a high valuation on your advice, people think it's worth more, just as they have a natural tendency to think that they are getting a higher quality shirt if it is priced at $50 instead of $5. Another point

The "under 10k" price tag is misleading because it does not include the opportunity cost of the web designers time. In other words, one has to calculate (the hours spent by Metalab web designers * their normal hourly rate) and add this to 1
