Here's a wrapper script I wrote that has the same syntax as the ssh command but automatically shell-quotes arguments, ensuring they're passed through 1:1 to the remote command: https://gist.github.com/comex/2f

Haven’t tried this demo, but in my experience these open-source models that split music into four components work absolutely fantastically. Not quite perfectly — if you remove vocals, the remaining track may have faint echos of vocals - bu

You’d need some pretty inefficient code for there to be a delay between the user clicking a button and even starting a request… But even in that case, instant feedback is probably better for the user. It lets them know the website isn’t

Many career paths include a steady increase in future earning potential. As for entitlement, they are entitled to a share of the value they bring to their employer. Or at least, if Stanford doesn’t think so, it can fire them.

Note that Intel is only using a translation layer for DirectX 9, and from what I’ve heard online the result is bad performance. DirectX 11 and 12 are both implemented natively.

“One of the goals of our architecture is to have it be completely transparent to software, because software is hard to change.” Software is hard to change. How ironic, and yet of course completely true.

It still works if you turn off SIP. This is the same on Apple Silicon and Intel. However, for these purpose of tracking file accesses, I recommend using `eslogger` instead, as it doesn’t require disabling SIP and is faster, among other ad

I'm not an expert in type theory, but something like Scala's path-dependent types might work. In the following example (which I copy-pasted from [1]), every object of type Foo has some associated type Bar. You can have multiple

That has the downside that if the user pipes your program’s standard output to, say, `head`, then once `head` is done reading the first few lines and exits, the program will blow up and probably print a message to standard error that clutte

I could have better explained what I was talking about. The point of a custom kernel would be to get extremely fast startup and context switch times, and extremely low per-process memory overhead, by doing things that Linux doesn't do

I'm on board with wanting an alternative to dataclasses that's faster, doesn't require types, and is less noisy (having to put @dataclass on its own line before every class is annoying when defining many small dataclasses). B

Correct – but that’s exactly why you can’t just say “all strings are UTF-8, we’re done here”. Because Windows filenames can contain unpaired surrogates, which don’t have a sensible UTF-8 translation. (Unix has a similar problem with filen

Sounds like you’d still want a non-AVX512 path for sufficiently small arrays, though. As an extreme case, sorting a 4-element array presumably doesn’t get enough speedup from AVX512 to be worth downclocking by 100Mhz. I wonder where the c
