The point is that Electron-the-platform is playing a similar role to GTK or Qt: it talks to Wayland, and the application talks to it. Therefore the application is not interfacing directly with Wayland, and claiming that it is would be sing

Looking at the "Melody & Rhythm Control" section under "Cherry-picked"... the rhythm control is weird. In many of the examples, the generated music clearly has a different BPM from the reference. But the model seem

The problem is that “Darwin” really means “whatever random subset of projects Apple decided to open source”. Perhaps once it was more of a cohesive thing; I know there were attempts by others to build a Darwin-only operating system, though

Does the YouTube Android app even use WebView? If not, then this has nothing to do with YouTube. Even if Vanced used WebView, I assume it was pretending to be a regular browser, so there is no way the site could require attestation.

"Relaxed with fences" is not always what the hardware implements. ARMv8 [1] provides straight-up load-acquire and store-release instructions, matching C++. [1] https://developer.arm.com/documentation/102336&#

Isn’t AI usually highly memory-bandwidth constrained? Designing a new powerful AI chip to rely on slow memory probably isn’t the best strategy.

The problem with the report isn’t just that it’s minor. The problem is that it’s directionally wrong. If the change makes life even slightly harder for attackers, then it makes life harder to exactly the same extent for legitimate users

Emscripten has been around since 2012, originally targeting JavaScript. But if you’re comparing to proprietary examples, you could go all the way back to ActiveX in 1996. Or, since today’s news is about Java, you could go back to Java apple

The packet was still sent from the randomized MAC. It just happened to also include a copy of the real MAC within the body of the packet.

Sounds useful in general, but in this case the problem wasn’t that low-level. It was just some daemon that decided to include a copy of the MAC address in the body of a UDP packet it was sending.

When Ritchie created C, he made arithmetic wrap because that’s what arithmetic did in assembly and C started as a thin layer over assembly. The real question is why did arithmetic do that in assembly – in other words, why didn’t the CPU au

That is not the case for the latest CPU extensions for encrypted VMs, AMD SEV-SNP and Intel TDX, which are designed to allow remote attestation based on a key hidden in the CPU that the hypervisor does not get access to. The hypervisor only
