I was surprised there was no mention of how to get out of a HEAD detached state. That seems to be my number one "oops, now I've got to delete and re-clone" problem.

Jeff Geerling even wrote an Ansible role to do all of the heavy lifting for you. I've used it alongside vagrant to spin up a three node cluster in ~15 minutes. https://github.com/geerlingguy/ansible-role-kubernetes

Alumni of WGU here. I did mine in about 1 1/2 years of work for < $16k. If anyone is looking to tick the "college educated" box I would highly recommend it as the fastest path to doing that.

It beats the heck out of serialized JSON files. However, for any application that needs data with relationships (most all of them), it's a no brainer to use SQL for your query language and DB engine.

I do like the "just throw whatever you want in this document" approach that Mongo has.

I have yet to see a good tutorial that shows an automated build of a kubernetes cluster. Yeah, you can use GKE, but that gets to be prohibitively expensive.

I really want to like Kubernetes, but going beyond the basics seems to require a way higher understanding of systems engineering than I currently have. Yes I know you can create container networks and stateful pods with attached storage, bu

Do you have scripts that could rebuild your pet Gitlab server? Beyond the storage requirements and stateful components, getting Gitlab to bootstrap from a base image should be pretty trivial, right?

Especially with plugins that can save your configuration to a server somewhere. Yeah, it takes longer than just booting up c9, but it's really not that much worse.
