When our little boy was 20 months old, we moved 2 hours' drive north to be in the same town as my wife's parents. This is probably the single smartest thing we have done in our marriage.

I dunno. Either there's something subtle going on here that I'm not getting, in which you're probably safe unless you're actually using their code; or there is loads of prior art on this idea. I worked on HyperMesh [1]

Huh? The Bloomberg site is the one I read most often that gets it completely wrong, at least on my browser (Chrome OS X). If I page up or down, it doesn't factor in the size of the fixed banner properly and I always lose visibility o

Today? Only for the hack value. In 1978 when Dann McCreary did it? Computers were expensive back then. A crappy TRS-80 Model I with 4K memory would set you back more than $2000 in 2015 dollars. I don't remember knowing anyone who h

Hmmm, I usually just use "Send to Kindle" (by Klip.me) for web pages. Though I do use Calibre->Kindle email to handle books not in the Kindle ecosystem.

Ah, that would explain why it happened twice to me! To be fair, the replaced logic board lasted about a year. This is doubly good news for me, because it makes it sound like my early 2011 MBP is likely to be covered, and I can reasonably h

Hmm, just installed git-cal and it certainly is adequately fast on my main work repo. But it seems to just be for the current branch? (That seems sensible enough, but also makes it somewhat less useful.)

I'm only half-awake, so maybe I'm missing something obvious. Why is the README talking about a git commit hook? Why not just take the data from the log?

There are (at least) two trapdoors. The first is that an operation on Rats which would produce a denominator which does not fit in a 64-bit unsigned integer will produce a Num instead. (If you're okay with your denominators growing i

Personally I think an iPad is unbeatable for many kinds of content consumption. I do 90% of my comics reading on mine, it's vastly better than the computer or phone for reading PDFs, it's great for playing casual games, it's

Haven't read the article, but I do know a bit about these curves. Bézier curves do indeed use the "binomial polynomial" for both x and y. That polynomial defines how the control points are used (with t) to calculate the poi
