Because 'go get' does not allow you to point to a particular revision. It downloads the latest / HEAD commit for that dependency and sticks it into ${GOPATH}. These dependency managers are all aiming to fix that problem, and

If you're talking about panics, you can only handle them in defer funcs if I'm not mistaken, which makes them significantly different from exceptions that I'm used to that can be caught in any part of the code. The dependenc

Most programs don't need generics, but a lot of programs benefit from having them. This, along with exceptions, are the two things that keep me from considering Go for future service development. We've stood up a couple of succes

I find :wq in my code commits more often than i like. It's most always when using IDEAVim, and I imagine it would be the same case for any other partial vim-emulator. For some reason, I'm just more prone to not hitting the escape

Doesn't the http package's Server recover from panics in the goroutines that are created to serve requests? That bugged me when I saw it happen. If my request handler panics, I wouldn't expect the server to recover from it.

I love rdio, but what is up with the lack of gapless playback? I love continuous albums, and even for the lack of being able to play these without the annoying silences between tracks I still prefer rdio, but this is the biggest issue I hav

In general, it's largely due to insecurity. I'm not saying that this is the case here, as I didn't pick up on it, but your comment definitely resonated with me, and this is something that bugs me more than I'd like on an

One thing I find frustrating about the net/http/pprof package is its init method, which does: http.Handle("/debug/pprof/", http.HandlerFunc(Index)) http.Handle("/debug/pprof/c

The early part of my career was spent chasing everything, and ironically, it was when I had the least amount of money. In 1998 I got my first job and immediately got a nice apartment in which to live and a decent car to get around. Even wi

At some point in the future we will look back on the era of the automobile as the era of carnage; the amount of life lost is staggering. I bike to work every day in a pretty bike-friendly city (compared to most) and it is still unnerving mo

Go didn't screw anything over. It sounds like poor version control practices. Although the Go team eschews versioning of dependencies, they do so mainly because they are in control of said dependencies. If you're building software that reli

If a company didn't want to hire me because I'm not active on Facebook, great! I wouldn't want to work for someone that uses such a heavily weighted metric in their hiring process.
