Thank you for making this a free tool. There are too many PDF tools that are unnecessarily paywalled, or have a paid tier that don't make any sense. We need more tools from paid ones that should be completely free and OSS.

A different perspective: It is amazing that now everyone that previously could not code now can build their own tools or projects they have ever wanted. This democratization is a net good for people who want to build their own thing but jus

   > But why would I ever choose locked down, corporate Twitter v2 "it'll be different this time!" over Mastodon? So that you don't have to move from Mastodon instance to Mastodon instance over a petty owner disagreement

   > any of them > all of them That is the problem. The paradox of choice stiffles adoption for Mastodon for the regular user and pushes them away. Choosing the main instance goes against the whole point of Mastodon for federation. The

With this logic, Threads is the biggest 'Mastodon instance' with 500M active users monthly. Why aren't the general public using the original first 'instance' which is Mastodon if it is just another node? > Mas

Nobody important or worth following uses Mastodon. Also Mastodon is on the road to enshittification since the previous CEO and founder bowed out for $1M using donations and the main instance federates with Meta's Threads. The other ins

I think Codeberg, Forgjo, GitLab (Self Hosted) and Gitea are great OSS alternatives where it is funded by the community and should be great for long term support of your (and my) dev stack. > I'm not against VC funding everywhere, b

Still cheaper than spending $2,300 to initially build it. Eventually the cost will go drastically down as always.

This. I predict in 10 years time the domain will be expired, nobody will play (let alone pay) the games on here. With software alone there is no moat, and I am surprised that "smart" engineers didn't think of this far ahead.

This is a fantastic idea. There are lots of projects, software that shouldn't be SaaS subscriptions that Fable can build in public that can be free for everyone and also OSS.

We just have regular web, backend, search, ingestion, frontend and mobile codebases. Turns out we didn't need these engineers and you can just have one or two strong seniors on this. They are more productive than ever.

It is Meta's loss anyway. Many small businesses are starved for talented employees, even if it is from big tech. This seems like a win to me if small businesses get ex-FAANG employees.
