This week alone I have received 25 calls from telemarketers, with 9 calls in one day alone. I can't believe it's 2017 and we are still dealing with this.

What I want to know is what happens if you get 'trapped' in this invisible ReCAPTCHA? The most frequent encounters with CAPTCHA's I see are rejected API requests over VPN.

As with anything - the result is only as secure as transmission and execution - so isolation is the only guarantee. If you're truly paranoid - run without network connectivity and transmit through physical media. That being said, this

I've been with Linode for a little over five years and a satisfied customer. That being said - their policy for handling DMCA notices is abysmal. They will network filter out your Linode until you respond to the notice.

The problem is not Javascript - throwing out JavaScript is like throwing out your utensils because your meal is too sweet. The problem is browsers are made by advertising entities that also leverage these same abilities.
