It's undignified because it's prizes to the highest performer, instead of bonuses to everyone meeting a certain goal. They are essentially pitting employees against each other, because if i sabotage someone else, i have a better s

I am going to need some sort of citation for the idea that Europe has high corporate taxes. According to KPMG the EU average is lower than the current US corporate tax rate. Furthermore, setting it at 37% is 3% lower than the US tax rate wa

Yeah, thats not true. The chart you link to says new first officers based in Dublin make 78.400 EUR (with "Productivity" which might not be guaranteed). And since Stansted Captain salary is lower, i would suggest that Stansted FO

I think that has a lot more to do with YouTube having an a very optimized video player, and using ABR streams. That works fine over WiFi in general. If you are doing MP4 pseudo-streaming, thats really a completely different beast. You don&#

Interesting, i've had the exact opposite feeling with XAML. I've written a bunch of Silverlight and WPF, and always felt it to be probably the best UI framework i have worked with. Certainly beats all the web frameworks, and imho

Of course you gain security, but not in the HTTPS PKI sense. Not that long ago, somebody BGP hijacked Route 53 in order to serve up different IP's for specific domains. Had that domain been using DNSSEC, that attack would have failed f

I've had the opposite experience with them. Things not working correctly, and a beyond useless support, who can only be contacted by email and often takes 24-48 hours to respond to even simply queries. I would stay away from them.

For broadcasts in Denmark, the rule is that ads cannot interrupt a program. It has to be before/after programs. Some channels get around that by broadcasting from other countries to Denmark though.

It is serverless in the sense that the dev (or sysadm) doesn't have to worry about the server. You can't touch anything that affects the OS in any way, you only really give it your code and binaries to run. In ways it's simil

I wish that was the case. TDC (the largest danish telco) actually sold information about mobile users, including roaming users to VisitAarhus. Specifically, it was data about the locations of mobile users. Danish article on the subject: ht

In that case, aren't you arguing that quotas shouldn't be placed on email at all? It's not like they instantly block receipt of mail if you go over the quota, you have time to fix it, which is much better than many mail servi

Yeah, XML GUI is nothing new. But there are huge differences in usability. Having worked with at least a few of those, i got to hand it to Microsoft. Working with XAML is a pleasure compared to any other UI framework i have had to work with

Apple is problematic for other reasons too. Try creating a movie rental service on the iOS platform. Apple wants 30%, killing all possibilities of competitors. Same thing for ebook stores etc.
