Source on that? While Emacs has pretty good mouse support these days, that wasn't always the case. I'd be surprised if pre-19 versions were mouseable at all.

Apparently that is indeed what happens, but VS Code still needs to load each active plugin's manifest and prepare hooks for when it'll be loaded. Still nowhere as bad as actually loading them all. There are still plenty of other e

Considering the original paper's[1] name "Quantum attacks on Bitcoin, and how to protect against them" I wouldn't call this clickbait. [1]: https://arxiv.org/abs/1710.10377

My first exposure to computers was with a Commodore 64, on which I had also first learnt to code. I wasn't even aware of the 2600 until later. Compared to what I could do on the C64, 2600 BASIC _was_ useless. Doesn't make it any l

Atari 2600 BASIC was terrible and completely useless, but the fact that it existed and worked at all given the constraints of the 2600 is nothing short of miraculous.

Far from recently. It's simply returning to its original Stalinesque ways.

Chances are you'd be growing a whole mix of cow parts at first and have to figure out how to differentiate them for the vats, so I doubt it'd be a problem. By the time vat meat works properly, you'd probably have the right kn

I would be happy to see us follow suit up here in Canada, but given that JT is at least part-owned by the PRC, I doubt it'll happen. I miss the good old days when we had our own telecoms equipment manufacturer. Northern Telecom, for al

Until we're at that point, though, we're going to keep growing cattle the old fashioned way, and that means leather to spare.

One of the big things pushed with Fossil is that you get issues and a wiki built in, compared to Git, but when you consider it there's nothing preventing you from tracking issues and keeping wiki pages inside a Git repo as well. All th

Maybe we as consumers in the west just need to suck up the higher costs for our tech stuff to be manufactured back here in the Americas and Europe. Sure it won't be pleasant for our wallets, but it'd be worth it.

As does much of northern Canada. However, the ancient rock, billions of old as it may be, wasn't surface rock 1.7 million years ago. It's only been surfaced since through erosion.

Nice use of the upcoming sets feature, but I think I'd still rather use ConEmu for tabbed consoles just as I use Groupy for tabbing windows together for non-UWP apps.

Bitter medicine may taste bad, but it'll help cure what ails you. Splitting California would be a long-term improvement for the residents there even if it would lead to some short-term pain.

Sounds like the Phoenix payroll project here in Canada, except for social services. There is no way this will end well, and I wouldn't be surprised if it leads (indirectly) to the death of clients.

I can muck about with RCS files in a CVS repository. I can (and have!) rebuild SVN repositories to strip content or add into earlier commits. Sure it's not as easily done as in Git, but it can be done. So does that mean they aren'
