I wouldn't quite say it's made by "practiced staff." The espresso made at most Starbucks is at the push of a button, hardly requiring effort, the rest is only a memorization of ingredients. It's turned into a bit of a ford/mcdonalds assembl

I agree. The story here is impressive, courageous, daring, and brash, but calling it a "great hack" doesnt seem fitting.

Not exactly sure why this story is on HN, but it was interesting read nonetheless. A very courageous man he was to have done such a thing- twice.

It's neat, but it only displays the top stories and there's no way to really read the stories? I think it's nifty, but not necessarily useful.

Well, yet another one of my website ideas in action. I wish I could pump them out a little faster. Site looks alright, I'll be sure to check it out later tonight when I get home. (on the iPhone ATM)

Which viral are you talking about here?

I dont think you'll get too many people for this one. 4chan is a productive vacuum. I'm sure people spend way too much time here on HN at the least.

As a tech evangelist, you could say he's just doing his job very well. (sarcasm.)

I've never really known who this guy was, only that he was laid-off from MS and was hired immediately from Google. I checked his blog and his most recent post was glorifying Google and their products as things far superior to Microsoft's. I

I personally dont find the app very well made. Interesting outcome for the developer nonetheless.

Enough ads on that page? I could hardly find the content. Pathetic.

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up. And here I thought I found an "Aha!" on the author.

Check it yourself. Click the title and visit the site. Click the picture to view screenshots and around two images in, you can see the title of the application is "Gitty."

They call it Gity on the website, but the applications title is Gitty. The jQuery screenshot viewer is neat, but having to repoint to each << >> to scroll is annoying.

As soon as I saw "haunts me" I knew what paintings you were talking about. I love his work and thank you for reuniting me with it.

When you do make one, send another my way. I could so something like that around here. Nothing like being woken up at 3am to two cats duking it out. Or having you garden ruined because the neighborhood cats like to poop there. Very irritati

Looks great, I love the simplicity. Although you chose an interesting color scheme. How are you determining when a website is down? What are you using to create the error message on the right? What's your website running, if you dont mind

An honest and non-sensationalized story. It was a quick but pleasant read, and interesting to hear the story behind the blog.

I was just about to do the same. I hate when they break up an article, especially just a list, into multiple pages. UGH.

Could anyone recommend something for Python? If something is out there for ruby, there's got to be at least one thing for python.

Now I know downtime is normal for a host. Yes, even Google. But when you visit the homepage of their status-blog[1], don't you think that's a bit too many updates a little too frequently? Or should we commend Dreamhost on being super-transp

I would love to do something like that, but the weight alone is too much for drywall/normal walls. Really cool idea though, I'll have to remember this one.

Upvoted to show support for the article and its point. I've once wondered into Google's Usenet jungle, it's a terrible mess.
