True. But they are not the people companies want to get rid of, they never had any integrity to begin with.

Sorry, that doesn't compute. If you have a 25k/year software dev, and you pair it up with AI, now you have two 25k/year software devs at best. It's sort of capable of producing the same crap as the least experienced, lea

AIs sort of have to be to survive, since they have no clue about anything yet always speak in a confident tone.

Or will it be the end of society as we know it, since everyone will keep pretending it works until everything collapses.

A lot of the time? What kind of code are you writing, if I may ask; and how long have you been doing it? I sometimes ask whatever AI open ended questions on subjects I know very little about, and sometimes I find some kind of starting point

Coding is not religion for me, I have no patience for fundamentalism. I will write as many tests as I need to feel confident, which depends on context. And integration tests give me a lot more confidence than mocked unit tests.

I rarely write isolated unit tests. Most of the systems I build use a database on which all logic depends, and often a network connection. I've worked on systems where these aspects were mocked, and they eventually grind to a halt beca

Haven't we seen enough by now? The problem is very easy to solve; quit buying their products, refuse to deal with them in any way, tell them why, inform others; lather, rinse repeat. We tend to underestimate our power, without us they&

We could just as well be heading straight into the next ice age, it's been a while, maybe this is how they begin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLkiQ0qIm-M

I don't even think Bjarne could claim with a straight face that hacking variants into the standard library was a good idea :)

Borland had a bad habit of launching MVPs and moving on to the next shiny thing. Like, leading everyone down the BDE rabbit hole and leaving them there; QuickReport, the list goes on and on. From here it looks like that tradition is still g

Or focused on improving Swing as opposed to inventing yet another half baked idea to be abandoned, it wasn't a bad start. I couldn't even get JavaFX to run, too weird.
