Definitely makes more sense than Racket imo, Common Lisp is a lot more pragmatic and SBCL is like magic.

Yeah, let's all pull numbers out of a hat and see who wins. Learn some real skills or prepare to not have a job.

It's not a free lunch though, you're sacrificing reinforcement learning and becoming more dependent on your tools.

Except you're not deepening anything, rather becoming increasingly dependent on wacky tools to keep up your fake status. Go for it, but it's a recipe for disaster imo.

Why? What does it add that you couldn't have written yourself faster if you're so skilled?

I agree, but having spent 40 years interacting with computers I feel like I have a pretty good idea what they're up to/capable of.

As a theoretical programmer maybe. Otherwise there are plenty of more important things to learn for software dev.

Give Johnny a copier and a pair of scissors and he will be able to perform more or less the same; and likely get more out of it as well, since he has a clue what he is doing.

I don't know about the gym, lifting weights is just another way to ruin your body imo. Yoga, climbing, martial arts, swimming; there's no end of fun activities that lead somewhere while keeping you in physical shape.

I don't mind reading and debugging my own code, or any other code written with a plan by someone with a clue. Reading and debugging slop code is not the same thing, not even close.

And once AI is not there anymore, you're back on square one. It only looks effective if you remove learning from the equation. It's the wrong tool for the job, that's what it is.

And the US is the latest iteration of the same imperialist bullshit mindset; or at least was until very recently, what happens from here is anyone's guess.

I'm not convinced we are solving them, this looks more like an addict caught in a loop where the only solution they see is more of the same.

I realize this is useful to many, but I still find it sad. The same way I find meditation apps sad. We're trying to use tech to solve problems caused by too much tech.

Surpass on a path that leads in circles, sooner or later nothing will work and few will remember how to use their brains for anything beyond slop prompting.
