I always make a point to sit with the engineers at the lunch table wherever I work. The conversations are wide-ranging and deep. Hardly narrow-minded. If anything, engineers tend to look for flaws, leading arts majors feeling hurt.

We communicate by Slack, email and Zoom. I routinely turn mine off for hours at a time and no one complains because they respect that we need to do focused work. I would love to cut down on non-essential meetings, but that's a stretch.

Much of this depends on who your customers are. Are they the average computer user? PayPal is fine, maybe even preferable. Are the hip, ultra-connected and young? It would be worth setting up Stripe Atlas as mentioned.
