I still believe the original title is warranted. The fact that Google has to manually step in to intervene or else the big domains get all the top rankings tells you that they are very heavily biased towards big media domains.

Not everyone has the time and resources to do SEO to beat big media companies at this game. Buying an old domain is a prime example.

Google has always preferred top domains for a very long time, allowing them to abuse the rankings for years. One relevant example I can remember, OVH is the top result for servers in Japan yet they don't have any in Japan. https:/

It is very risky but making your own website and having it be easily found should be the way the internet is supposed to work. One shouldn't have to make a youtube channel, constantly tweet, and manage a facebook group when a single we

Google has been killing all but the most widely known domains for a very long time. I've mentioned this repeatedly on ycombinator multiple times, but only people who have made their own website 15 years ago and tried to grow it know wh

I believe you are missing the crucial reason why all the people are consuming content in apps now. Google is in large part to blame for this, if not the main reason. Many years ago, Google started updating their search algorithm to heavily

Yes it is, but other providers like microsoft and apple are even worse. When I moved my email server to a new IP a few months ago, while gmail sent my email to spam, live and icloud straight up blocked them. I did notice the rate limiting b

It happened to me. Was permanently banned and I never made use of a service like what the OP mentioned. Now I am still using adsense but through a 3rd party that takes a large cut.

Even if you don't use services like that, a competitor can easily use it for you to get you banned.

Not everyone has access to that and the last time I checked, it was heavily limited and not allowed to do things like code.

I don't see any reason for it to be less true now. Is python syntax worse than any brand new languages like rust or go? Absolutely not. It's still better. Did Google stop using it? I don't think so, but I also don't thin

I can make some arguments but it all boils down to personal bias and anecdotes. The forced use of spacing to delineate blocks means you will never see a bunch of brackets eating up screen space and the common error where someone adds anothe

I'm arguing against the point that it clearly did have the easiest syntax compared to the competition back then and not because Google was using it. Even if it doesn't have the best syntax now (which I doubt), the tooling and libr

There were plenty of other languages competing with python for the same niche such as perl, ruby, js, php etc... Python is superior to all of those just for syntax alone, it is easier and cleaner to both read and write.
