The initial search is pretty fast, are you going out to github api or do you have crawlers that get all the data all the time?

One problem that I noticed is that not all OAuth providers give you the users emails as part of authentication data. Twitter and LinkedIn for instance dont, whereas Facebook does. How do you handle that?

Using an Oauth Provider for Signup and Login makes most of these techniques moot. For the service Im working on, im using a wonderful OmniAuth gem that together with Devise allows for easy support of popular OAUTH providers such as Facebook

If your system needs both to encrypt and decrypt some information this to me means that the decryption key has to be stored somewhere and if that somewhere is compromised, so is everything else. I would store the decryption key on the files

This is basically a disguised VNC display. I test drove this app(or its clone) last year and it was noticeably laggy. Maybe things have changed since then...

Definitely buy an aftermarket SSD. Stay away from Crucial C300 for now as they seem to have problems with 2011 i5/i7 macbooks(may have been fixed in latest firmware, but was a problem up untill recently). 2011 macbook pro has a sata3 contro

Does anyone know if linked in now allows access to public information over api. Previously due to API rate limits, you could only get (publicly available) information about a person if he went through oauth process. Whereas for other oauth
