I'm searching around seeing if I can somehow replace the awful t440s touchpad. It's just so awful. I'm glad I rarely use it (emacs + tiling wm) but I'd love to use touchpoint more easily. I would have killed if this was

What's so confusing from this post, is the complete lack of motivations for why anyone would want this over a shell script at the root of their project. I'd rather it even blindly rerun the command every `go build` than this half

fixed: tl;dr Go has its own version of the make tool set that doesn't allow dependencies outside of Go source files, and doesn't rebuild dependencies on file updates.

No it's not if you ever intend to type `go`. The go team has decided that the go language doesn't depend on any build system, but pushes a single build system one that requires source code compatibility and provides no benefit ove

And they actually stuck with their go generate design? What an unfortunate mis-step. Let the makefile's continue. I've seriously thought about moving to gccgo just to try and get a build system where I can actually inject dependen

Yea, the layering thing is definitely hackable. I highly suggest using emacs for a specific type of task to try it out, don't go wholesale. Try using it just for taking meeting notes, or maybe only for writing a specific language (skew

Yea, I just have a separate init.el that: - loads ELPA - require's org - runs (org-babel-load-file (expand-file-name "boot.org" dotfiles-dir)) I've found it much easier than the init.el generation route.

You still need a Makefile if you use things like godep, or their new `go generate` stuff. They have a long way to go on tooling; however, getting to say that is a luxury, due to just how "right" golang has been for systems work. G
