I don't know if the camper website is differentiated by region, or if I'm looking at a totally different website ( http://www.camper.com ?) but I'm not seeing what she's seeing at all. I see a pretty standard e-commerce website with no "lo

It would be interesting to note what the standard deviation is on those figures. My guess is it's quite high, which does give Facebook a bit of breathing room.

The thing I don't understand is, for all that DDG does, there's really nothing that Google and/or Bing couldn't just copy wholesale if it were really that great. The ONLY thing DuckDuckGo can do that Google won't is "privacy" (maybe "less a

Yes, that's one option. But the question is then "who do I ask?" If you don't understand the field yourself (at least to some degree) it's just as easy to get suckered into asking the wrong person for an opinion. It's hard to say, though, w

I never saw this one the first time around, but the judge's ruling sounds crazy to me. It basically boils down to "I don't understand this, so it must be patentable." I'm really staring to rethink my opinion on those "learn to program"/"don

Like eljaco, I was using Chrome on Android. When I switch to the built-in Android browser, then I get everything on a single page. That seems like a really fragile way to build a mobile site, and I don't really understand how splitting the

Am I the only one reading this on a mobile? How do they get away with splitting the article over no less than 12 pages, two or three paragraphs per "page"? I read the first page and gave up because I'm not going to sit there while its loadi

I'm happy to give Apple the benefit of the doubt here, maybe it was one individual working on their own and not part of some "company policy", but I don't really see how you can "mistakenly" add a word to a dictionary.

I once worked on a redesign for a site, and one of the sections I worked on was the "photo gallery" section. I had a beautiful JavaScript-based photo gallery which had nice transitions between photos, it was pretty slick and nice and fast.

The thing I don't get is, rangeCheck doesn't actually _do_ anything. If it was taken out, the code would still function exactly the same, you just wouldn't get a nice exception when you pass in the wrong parameters (it'd still be an excepti

On a slightly different note (from that same Groklaw article), I like Oracle's defense against Google's claim that they didn't have access to the patents in question: "Access? Google organizes the world's information! Of course they had acc

I don't see how that's even possible. As soon as you start adding friends and "liking" things, there's no way to do that and be "private".

The only problem with the <picture> element is how to address backwards compatibility? The srcset attribute is backwards compatible because old browsers will just ignore srcset and use the src, but old browsers will ignore the <

The 21k reviews is for "this version" -- there's actually nearly 2 million reviews for "all versions" with an average of 4 stars. The Android app has 3.2 million reviews (averaging 3.6 stars - 600,000 or so are 1 star). So it doesn't seem a

So I just had a look at the update, and I count 30 Android devices and 26 iOS devices. Obviously there's plenty of doubled-up devices in the iOS cupboard, but it looks like a couple of the Android devices are doubled-up as well. My own app

Firstly, it's not the headline I'm talking about. The whole tone of the article is "this is what developing for Android is like." Having to test on 400 devices is NOT what developing for Android is like, AT ALL. So you talk to many of the t

Then why not frame the article as "this is a hilarious photo that shows the length that one Android developer is going to in order to ensure maximum compatibility", rather than "this is what it's like if you want to make an Android app"?

You can run other JVM languages on Android today. The Android compiler take Java byte code and translates it to Dalvik byte code. See here for Clojure: http://dev.clojure.org/display/design/Android+Support "Works out of the box with 1.2.0

I think there's a big difference between 30-40 domains not being used for an honest reason, and 15,000 domains purchased for the specific purpose of reselling them at a higher price. And that's only 15,000 bought over a two-day period. How
