I don't understand this, the line in the RFC is clear: > Responses to this method are not cacheable, unless the response includes appropriate Cache-Control or Expires header fields. That is, if you don't include a Cache-Control header,

Now this makes sense. As I said below, it seems really strange that this would go unnoticed, especially since one-connection-per-domain affects all sites and not just ones doing long polling. Still a pretty bad bug, though.

This is very strange... If the browser only opens one connection to a domain at once, it should have made so many sites much slower to load and it's hard to believe Apple don't have automated tests to check for performance regressions like

Given that all of Samsung's phones have the word "Samsung" stamped on them in fairly large letters, I don't think they were doing anything to intentionally confuse buyers. Copying yes, but with the intention of confusing buyers, I don't thi

You probably could, but given that GIF files are limited to a 256-colour palette, it would probably look pretty horrible. Especially for such a large image.

I just tried on my friend's iPod and the animation doesn't play there anyway (it just stays on the "lock" image). Maybe the iPod browser is different (my Android doesn't play the animation either) but I'd be surprised if the animation worke

I'm not sure if I should be impressed by this. From a technical standpoint, it seems quite clever and unique, but it also seems like a lot of work just to avoid using a <video> tag.

That would've been an interesting campaign. I'm sure there's a lot of people who don't actually know what Apple are doing to innovation around the world. Though I wonder if you could do it without actually coming off as a whining loser...

I'm fairly lucky in that my work gives me a new phone about every year. So far I haven't had to pay for it, even though I've been using it for more than a year. I'm not sure how that works with their "login" stuff, though, since I'd get a n

I usually have three "chunks" of CSS/JS per page, one for CSS/JS that's shared across all pages of the whole site, one that's common among a "group" of pages and one that's unique to just that page. Of course, not all pages get all three ch

Who is the target market, though? I'd say the vast majority of new users of OS X are people coming from Windows, not people who have never used a computer their whole life. Does the leather texture really help those people?

This reminds me of a few years ago when Apple tried to get Woolworths (a supermarket chain in Australia) to stop using their new logo (a "W" styled in the shape of an apple)[1]. Apple lost that one, and I suspect that they'll probably lose

I think the most likely outcome of HTC "succeeding" would just be that Apple and HTC agree to "cross-license" between each other. My guess is that Apple will enter cross-licensing deals with each of the major manufacturers, which is actuall

The only problem with std::vector is that you can only belong to one (unless you have a vector of pointers, but that almost negates the whole point). The way I've typically done this is by having one global "all entities" std::vector and th

The only way to choose "no" is "no - I don't understand how it works" or "no - I'm scared of scams". I know how it works and I'm not scared of scams, but I still don't use Facebook to log in to third party sites. What do I choose?
