Funny thing is that I thought I understood it, generally, but I just made a little live coding video as I was trying to discover how to build a shell in Go. Although I was successful, I’m still not entirely sure how this works. I figured ou

I don’t wholesale agree with the writing but it does mention working with someone who worked on the project and can share the theory. In that case, a new dev is hired, and you instill all the knowledge of the system in the new dev. Once you

I don't know the answer to this and I wonder how many others will feel the same way. I started copying code out of books a long time ago when you had to do that to run a program at all. Slowly I learned to debug as a result of my own t

I noticed, on another bill, that congress.gov was slow in updating a bill. There was more up-to-date information on Twitter. Edit: Unfortunately, I can't find my old comment on the thread that shows which bill and the specific tweet th

For a contrasting movie, I thought “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” (2019) was the opposite. The movie spends something like 80% of the time with setup. I loved it, my wife hated it. Looks like it’s 70% on Rotten Tomatoes.

I'm also from North of SLC. I once read that this area was originally called Smokey Valley by Native American tribes that roamed the area but who usually avoided the valley because of the smoke pollution. It has something to do with ho

I’ve been thinking about cancelling prime again, oddly, it may be cancelled on me… I used to love Prime Video but it is so full of content I can’t watch without paying that it’s painful. The shipping is nice, but they don’t deliver quickly

If there are no cars available near you, and you want to drive, try U-Haul or similar truck rental places. It’s probably not going to be a super comfortable ride, but you might get home.

I’ve never been a consisted blogger (i.e. weekly) and I haven’t setup a way to collect donations, but I get a lot of nice emails. Some of them even say I saved the user hundreds or thousands of dollars with my technical instructions. Yeah,

I started doing this about a year ago. Not because it takes longer to boot up, but because I was trying to see which single device was most often the solution. In my setup there is a fiber modem (outside the house), a Wi-Fi router, and then

This fight will cost the TikTok user thousands of dollars. It’s odd that they weren’t swayed by the cease and desist letters. This suit should cause a lot of stress as it runs its course over the next year or so. The legal filing will proba

Tell us greenies a little more? I don’t use RSS for writing or reading, but maybe I should. Is this consuming other RSS feeds? Is it publishing a feed and 65% of its traffic comes from feed consumers? That would be nice, since I don’t want

In some Las Vegas hotels I no longer need to stop at a counter or stand in a line and it’s 1000x better experience. I can walk directly to my room and scan my phone. I can scan my phone for parking. I can grab extra keys at a kiosk, if I ne

This is good information but most of it is not actionable for the people building (I suppose it’s more a guide for the people who “threw it over the wall” this time). The one that is actionable seems like it could be interpreted wrong to me

One of the nice things about this tech is that we can adapt over time. Today we might burn some coal or natural gas to generate the additional power we need, which doesn’t help the environment, but tomorrow we can expand the amount of solar
