I find that writing with pen and paper is best for my mind. But, I’m a technologist so I love digital. I use the Kindle Scribe to cover both bases. I’ve written about it here: https://notes.joeldare.com/handwritten-notes-on-

Most EULA’s would disclaim liability for data loss and suggest users keep good backups. I haven’t read a EULA for a long time, but I think most of them do so.

You might like my Neat CSS framework, which I use for everything these days. I didn’t use perfectly black, it’s off just a bit, which I find pleasing, but it still has plenty of contrast. https://neat.joeldare.com

It’s a little off topic but I used to think Go binaries were too big. I did a little evaluation at some point and changed my mind. Sounds like they are still bigger than Rust. https://joeldare.com/small-go-binaries

I don’t know of a tool but I’ve had some success doing this with a one shot short prompt. I say something like, “Here’s a readme. Develop this in Go.” Followed by the readme. I’ve been getting complete working code with this strategy but I’

It often does. The other thing that has worked for me is contacting the legal department. Probably the same address, c/o legal. Just don’t say something stupid like, “I’m going to sue you”. If you escalate too far they’ll wait for the

I am very similar to op. What type of mental health professional should we seek out? I talked to a PA about ADD a couple times, but dropped it because they seemed doubtful and I felt a bit ashamed (because you treat ADD and ADHD with a cont

The app is still available on iOS but if you open it the screen only shows "THE END" and a winner is announced. It also says, "Stay tuned for hte next game.". So, maybe it is dead now.

This prompt is a lot more complex than what I did. I don’t recall my exact prompt but it was something like, “Generate a list of 25 songs that I may like if I like Girl is on my Mind by the Black Keys.”

I had an LLM create a playlist for me. I’m tired of the bad playlists I get from algorithms, so I made a specific playlist with an Llama2 based on several songs I like. I started with 50, removed any I didn’t like, and added more to fill in

I was surprised by this, but you can install a driver and simply print to these printers. Or, at least, the one I purchased is that way. You can also use lp, lpr, or nc to send text and codes to it. Mine is connected to my network via Ether

Inspired by other receipt printer projects on HN, I just purchased a MUNBYN P075 printer last week. I thought it was going to be a lot more complex than it was. I thought I'd have to write ESC/POS codes manually to generate images

Is this related to "Oh Shit, git?" by Julia Evans? https://wizardzines.com/zines/oh-shit-git/ Perhaps not and the authors just named it the same because it rolls off the tongue nicely.

That’s what I used to do but now I think it is a major handicap. I haven’t perfected it yet, but I’ve had good luck letting AI write entire (smallish) programs and do major updates to those.

Why would they require these hours? In the U.S. I think they would need to pay time and a half for anything north of 40-hours. Seems like it would be cheaper to hire more workers and not force the overtime. Then they might be able to increa
