Regarding your last paragraph, I thought the same... When the author wrote: > I'm instantly transported back to that moment — the room, the lighting, the chair I was in, the table, the pit in my stomach, ... I could'nt help but

Doing so head-on solves the problem faster. Talking directly to someone or about the problem as it is has felt to me like people can understand and act quicker. Less malcontent is felt by those affected by such a person's incompetence.

Does anyone know the social mechanisms behind the scenes that allow them to negotiate such effective deals? Spotify is deeply in bed with the traditional labels/music industry and that industry seems to be able to "move" stuf

Interesting, thanks for the insights. The next time I feel frustrated enough I'll have to do that. Part of me was considering just self-hosting an alternative YT frontend. At this point I'm sorta happy with how YT slowly has decre

I use Firefox and uBO and I had it trigger about 4 times now. I go and manually pull the uBO "Quick Fixes" list and still it triggers for me. Recently it has stopped triggering again though. I have no idea why.

LUKS or eCryptfs work perfectly fine for the "stealing your laptop" use case, and are purely software implementations. There's a poster below that provides a more reasonable use case for TPM. Headless server where asking for

True... Though I've seen projects selling Discord hacking as a SaaS. And I never understood who was paying for that service and why. I also don't know enough IRC to know if hacking it was monetizable in that way

The author defers a lot to their "fixing search" article[0] for arguments and numbers. That article wrongly assumes that search (and the other problems mentioned, like social) is simple to rebuild to avoid misaligned incentives by

Tabs wouldn't be so bad if there was a unified tabular interface for all windows/tab-likes. And I'm not taking about a "your Chrome tabs are just apps in your quick switch menu" like on Android. I'm talking lik

Tabs also store an implicit chronology and don't require organization other than the order/vague time they were "saved" and the related tree they were in (tree-style tabs). I also find the tab scrolling UI of a long list

Why do people go after Discord accounts so hard? They're not commonly used for OAuth into third party sites, they don't house money, and Discord makes it hard to get all the data out of an account anyway (GDPR request only returns

I use a hybrid approach. Next.js is the base for my site but I use next-sitemap and a hand rolled content compiler (md -> html -> jsx) for feeds, meta tags, and generating every page I dont manually specify as a .tsx file. I like havi
